Dala FM 88.5 FM is a vibrant independent radio station broadcasting from Kano, owned by the Freedom Radio Group, which is overseen by the Dalhatu family. Launched in 2011 as a sister station to Freedom Radio’s flagship network, Dala FM quickly became a cultural hub by delivering entertainment, news, talk shows, and music primarily in Hausa, capturing the essence of “Muryar Zamani” (“the Voice of the Times”) for Northern Nigeria.
It gained national attention in 2020 by becoming Nigeria’s first virtual radio station, having migrated from analog to an entirely IP-based broadcasting system — underscoring its technological innovation. Anchored by charismatic MCs and DJs, Dala FM continues to engage Kano’s youth and broader community with lively programming that blends modern studio quality and grassroots relevance.
