Radio Agidigbo 88.7 FM, based in Ibadan, Oyo State, began its terrestrial broadcasts on March 25, 2021, following an online start that was disrupted by a studio fire in April 2020.

Founded by human-rights advocate and broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat, it became the first station in Ibadan licensed to a journalist, embodying the motto “the people’s voice”.

From its earliest days, Agidigbo FM distinguished itself with in-depth talk programming across Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, led by the youngest Head of Station in Nigeria — 25-year-old Yousuph Adebayo Grey — and quickly earned applause for its investigative journalism show, “Digging Deep”.

Agidigbo’s mission focuses on issues affecting ordinary citizens — human rights, social justice, and poverty — through compelling storytelling, hard-hitting interviews, and social interventions.

Within months, it became the most-listened-to radio station in Oyo State, achieving a remarkable 57% audience share according to Media Planning Services.

Its emergence shook Ibadan’s radio scene, not least because a radio presenter turned station owner was unprecedented, and the station drew top media talents through on-air recruitment.

Radio Agidigbo continues to grow its influence with digital extensions via podcasts and social media, reinforcing its role as a bold, citizen-centered outlet in Nigeria’s media landscape.
