Radio Splash FM (Splash 105.5 FM) emerged in Ibadan in March 2007 as the city’s first truly independent, people-centered radio station. Founded by Chief Adebayo Muritala Akande, the “Agbaakin Olubadan,” it was officially commissioned on 22 March.

Because it was the first of its kind, its employees really clicked with listeners by knowing what was going on locally and being open to everyone. In August 2008 the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission gave it a new name: “The Integrity Station” (Radio Omoluabi).

This event showed that it was serious about being honest and fair. With talk shows, news, and shows about culture in Yoruba, Pidgin English, and English, it brought real people’s opinions into the public conversation and made the stations owned by the government change.

Over the years, shows like “Tifun Tedo” (newspaper review), “Voices” (current affairs), and the well known “Morning Splash” became important to the city’s culture. Because it was so well liked, they created a Media Academy to teach people how to this work.
